New
Mindful Mixology : a comprehensive guide to no- and low-alcohol cocktails with 60 recipes
by Derek Brown

Creating these drinks isn't as simple as removing the alcohol. No- and low-proof cocktails still have to be balanced and still have to be delicious, but they don't operate exactly like cocktails with alcohol. The drinks Brown presents in this book are meticulously choreographed around taste, texture, body, and piquancy to result in surprisingly complex 'adult beverages' minus the booze.
The Age of Resilience : reimagining existence on a rewilding earth
by Jeremy Rifkin

Exploring the cutting-edge scientific discoveries about human nature and the evolution of life, this defining work shows how we must relearn to adapt our species to the ever-present and powerful forces of a rewilding earth.
Knowing What We Know : the transmission of knowledge, from ancient wisdom to modern magic
by Simon Winchester

Examining such disciplines as education, journalist, encyclopedia creation, museum curation, photography and broadcasting, an award-winning writer explores how humans have attained, stored and disseminated knowledge and how continues to change our lives and our minds.
Ducks : two years in the oil sands
by Kate Beaton

CBC Reads 2023 winner. Katie heads out west to take advantage of Alberta's oil rush-part of the long tradition of East Coasters who seek gainful employment elsewhere when they can't find it in the homeland they love so much. Katie encounters the harsh reality of life in the oil sands, where trauma is an everyday occurrence yet is never discussed. Beaton's natural cartooning prowess is on full display as she draws colossal machinery and mammoth vehicles set against a sublime Albertan backdrop of wildlife, northern lights, and boreal forest. Her first full length graphic narrative, Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands is an untold story of Canada: a country that prides itself on its egalitarian ethos and natural beauty while simultaneously exploiting both the riches of its land andthe humanity of its people
Small Mercies : a novel
by Dennis Lehane

In 1974 Boston, as a heatwave blankets the city, Mary Pat Fennessey, in a desperate search for her missing daughter, asks questions that bother Marty Butler, chieftain of the Irish mob, who doesn't take kindly to anyone who threatens his business.
The Way of the Bear
by Anne Hillerman

Navajo Tribal Police officers Jim Chee and Bernadette Manuelito must use all their experience, skill and intuition to solve a series of murders involving fossil harvesting, ancient lore, greed and rejected love linked to Utah's Bears Ears National Park.
