What is Love?
by Mac Barnett

A boy sets out to find someone who can answer a question about love that he asks his grandmother, and eventually his quest leads him back home, in this heartfelt fable about the nature of love from award-winning picture book creators.
What is Peace?
by Edward Wallace

A stunning, thought-provoking look at finding peace in children's lives. Peace is a familiar word, its meaning both simple and complex. Here, Wallace Edwards explores peace, and invites young readers to think about what that means to them. Through a series of linked questions and combined with Edwards' singular art, the concept of peace is picked up, shaken, turned all around, and carefully examined from every angle. Children experience stress, even violence, at home and at school and bear witness to news stories and family histories. There are many books on war for children; far fewer that examine peace. What Is Peace? engages readers to think about peace in their day-to-day lives, and around the world.
Everyday Trauma : remapping the brain's response to stress, anxiety, and painful memories for a better life

The New Tsar : the rise and reign of Vladimir Putin
by Steven Lee Myers

Describes the rise to power of Russia's current president, a former KGB agent who began his tenure as a positive reformer in 2000, only to mutate into a new consolidated power of authoritarianism who retains the support of many and swiftly quiets dissenters.
Chernobyl

In April 1986, a huge explosion erupted at the Chernobyl nuclear power station in northern Ukraine. This series follows the stories of the men and women, who tried to contain the disaster, as well as those who gave their lives preventing a subsequent and worse one. A five-part docu-drama mini-series on DVD.
