Radon Awareness Radon is the primary cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers and one in 4 homes tested in Nevada have elevated Radon concentrations. January is National Radon Action Month and the Nevada Radon Education Program of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) will be offering an informational presentation and free radon test kits. - Wednesday, January 17, 4 pm, Verdi Community Library

Families of Hillside Cemetery Presented by Historic Reno Preservation Society Hillside Cemetery advocate Frances Tryon will take us on a virtual tour of Hillside Cemetery, featuring stories about the founding families of Reno and their connections to the history of our community, country, and world. History of LGBTQ Reno Presented by Historic Reno Preservation Society As far back as 1882, Reno had an LGBTQ presence and is representative of the small but thriving LGBTQ communities in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Histoian and LGBTQ scholar Jeff Auer will cover this time period through the Great Recession, including the history of the Reno Gay Rodeo and its effects on the world. - Sunday, January 28, 1:30 p.m., Sierra View Library
