Mango Languages There seems to be no end to the benefits of learning another language. Besides improving our ability to engage more deeply with a foreign culture, whether while travelling abroad or while reading a novel in its original language. Some studies have even indicated second language proficiency is related to sharpened cognitive function, improved creativity, and even increased income. But language learning courses can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Unlike other programs, Mango Languages is free to use. You only need your library card to access courses in more than 70 languages.

Tsurunokai Tsurunokai brings the ancient art of Japanese taiko drumming to the children of Northern Nevada. Taiko drums have been used in warfare, martial arts, religious ceremonies, and festivals throughout Japan for over 1,400 years. Pinwheels for Prevention April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Children’s Cabinet is proud to partner with Prevent Child Abuse Nevada to host a free event filled with fun activities for children, youth, and their families. The event concludes with a pinwheel planting ceremony to raise awareness, and to promote solidarity in our community.

Little Books & Little Cooks University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is pleased to offer Little Books & Little Cooks, a meaningful, hands-on educational activity geared towards preschool children. Food for Fines April 1-30 Washoe County Library System is proud to partner again with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Project Mana for the spring Food for Fines event. Patrons can bring in one non-perishable food item for every overdue book or other item. (Food cannot be exchanged for lost or damaged library materials.)

The makerspace at the Downtown Reno Library is open for business Thursdays, 3-5:45 pm. A different resource will be featured each week. We make every effort to ensure the following resources are available every Thursday: leather crafting, button machines, and vinyl cutter.

Introductory Computer Classes Sparks Library's ongoing computer classes are designed to give beginners a proper introduction to various computer programs and actions.
