Geography Awareness Week
November 10-16
Geography Awareness Week has been observed the third week of November for more than 30 years. With this year's theme, Igniting the Spirit of Exploration, the event aims to spark a life-long interest in geography.
 
Washoe County Libraries offer geography resources for people of all ages, including several particularly meant to engage and inspire kids, such as ABC-CLIO and Explora.

Food for Fines
 
Through the month of November, you can bring cans or boxes of non-perishable food to any Washoe County Library System location in lieu of paying overdue fines. Donate one non-perishable food item for each overdue book or other library item.
 
The food collected will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada; donations made at the Incline Village Library will help support Project MANA.

Give the Gift of Reading
 
For the fourth year, Washoe County Library System is launching Give the Gift of Reading, an exciting campaign in support of children’s literacy. 
 
Your commitment to sponsor at least one book will help prepare children in our community for an early start in reading and learning. We hope that you will be able to join us in supporting this initiative.

Library Closures
 
In observance of Veterans Day, all libraries will be closed November 11. The North Valleys Library will also be closed on November 12.
 
All libraries will be closed on November 28 and 29 in observance of Thanksgiving Day and Family Day. On  November 27, the Spanish Springs Library will be closed, and all libraries with evening hours will close at 5:00 pm.
