Resource Tutorials Now Available If you are a regular visitor to our website, you may have recently noticed a mysterious blue tab, labeled "tutorials," on the right side of our webpage. Opening this tab will give you access to instructional videos for many of our electronic resources. With these tutorials you can learn how to get the most out of the library's subscriptions to ebooks, audiobooks, research databases, online learning platforms, and more. We already have more than 20 tutorials available, and we will continue to add more as we create them. You can see the entire selection so far here.

March 3-9 Teen Tech Week events at the Washoe County Library will include video effects and animation workshops, virtual reality demonstrations, scavenger hunts, and more. Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association, designed to encourage teens to take advantage of the technology at libraries for education and recreation.

Danú Sierra View Library Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish bands of the 21st century. Performances feature flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki, and vocals. Enjoy a workshop featuring instrument descriptions, brief solo displays, and ensemble pieces followed by a question and answer session and a meet and greet with the performers.

Soul Fisticated March 12-16 Soul Fisticated provides an upbeat show with educational value for youth. The trio performs hit songs from the 1940s to the present, exploring the range of rhythms, lyrical approaches, and traditions in popular music. Presented by Pioneer Center Youth Programs and Friends of Washoe County Library.

Brüka's Theatre for Children Verdi Community Library Brüka Theatre proudly presents an original Theatre for Children production of Galileo—Stars In His Eyes. This live theatre performance incorporates physical theatrics, improvisation, and audience interaction. Presented by Pioneer Center Youth Programs and Friends of Washoe County Library.

Tsurunokai South Valleys Library Tsurunokai brings the ancient art of Japanese taiko drumming to the children of Northern Nevada. Taiko drums have been used in warfare, martial arts, religious ceremonies, and festivals throughout Japan for over 1,400 years. Presented by Pioneer Center Youth Programs and Friends of Washoe County Library.

Beaupromo Puppetry Gerlach Community Library Beaupromo Puppetry has revived the ancient tradition of marionette puppetry, presenting this unique art form in a musical variety show format. These 24-inch tall marionette puppets narrate stories from America's history through song, dance and music.

Model Dairy and the History of Ranching and the Dairy Industry Neil Brooks shares the story of two pioneer families, the Peckhams and the Taylors, that helped establish the ranch and dairy industry in Reno over a century ago. Brooks is a fifth-generation Nevadan who grew up on Rewana Farms, historic location of Model Dairy.

Underground Reno and the Train Trench Downtown Reno Library The excavation required to create the Reno train trench unearthed 83 archaeological sites (81 historic and two pre-historic), which together tell a story of 5,000 years of continuous human habitation near the banks of the Truckee River. Presented by environmental consultant Mark Demuth.

DIY Repair Clinic Volunteers Needed Help your neighbors troubleshoot and fix their broken things. We are looking for individual coaches and local organizations with experience repairing the following: - Computers and mobile devices

- Small appliances and electronics
- Bikes and skateboards
- Toys and wooden items
- Clothing and fabric items
- And almost anything else!
The Repair Clinic is an all-ages DIY activity where people bring their broken household items and learn how to assess, disassemble, and repair them. Coaches are needed for the following locations and times: - South Valleys Library, Saturday April 27, 1:30-4:30 pm

Our new makerspace at the Downtown Reno Library is open for business Thursdays, 3-5:45 pm. A different resource will be featured each week. We make every effort to ensure the following resources are available every Thursday: leather crafting, button machines, and vinyl cutter.

Microsoft Excel for Beginners Want to learn Microsoft Excel? Need help learning how to create a worksheet? In this four-part class, trained staff will help you navigate and learn the basics of Microsoft Excel. Classes will be held at the Sierra View Library, Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 5-14, 4-5 pm.
