Sorry, we're closed ... Thursday, May 18: All libraries will be closed in the morning for staff training, and will open at 2:00 pm. Additionally, the Sparks Library will close at 6:00 pm, the Duncan/Traner Community Library will open at 3:00 pm, and the Senior Center Library will be closed all day. Monday, May 29: All libraries will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. The North Valleys Library will also be closed on Tuesday, May 30.

We Won’t Stay Long: Anticipated Mobility at Rabbithole Springs, Nevada Located near the Black Rock Desert, The community was inhabited from 1935-1941 and the residents improvised by living in tents or dugouts built from scavenged materials. The patterns of trash disposal, the residential features, and locations of work areas fit together to tell the story of how long the residents thought they would stay at Rabbithole Springs. Kristen Tiede is Historic Reno Preservation Society's scholarship recipient for 2016. She will receive her MA in Historical Archaeology from UNR in May 2017.

Now in its 25th season, Great Basin Young Chautauqua is an award-winning program in which young people learn how to research and develop original Chautauqua presentations. The Friends of Washoe County Library is an all volunteer non-profit organization with over 500 members dedicated to advocating, fundraising and providing support for the Washoe County Library System. Our purpose is to ensure a first-class, free public library that will remain accessible to all Washoe County residents for generations to come.
