We are proud to present this collection of photographs as our first online exhibit. Originally scheduled for the Downtown Reno Library, this collection of images, by photographers Scott Hinton, Sebastian Diaz, and Jeff John Sison, documents three downtown Reno motor lodges--Star of Reno, El Ray, and Keno--shortly prior to their demolition.
These photographs were pulled from a digital archive of more than 100 images that explored interior rooms, decor, surrounding cityscape, and the signage that was quintessential to Reno’s motor lodge era.
Taiko drum ensemble Tsurunokai performs traditional Japanese folk music as well as original compositions. Traditionally, taiko drums have been used in warfare, martial arts, religious ceremonies, and festivals throughout Japan for more than 1,400 years.
Tsurunokai founder Rieko Shimbo has assembled a group of talented and dedicated taiko drummers whose credits include performances at many local and regional festivals and art exhibitions.
Every week a friend from Conservation Ambassadors introduces us to new wild animals. It's always a surprise to see what exotic animals we'll see next--though so far we've had lemurs, a serval, an alligator, and others. You can see past events here or register and watch live on any Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
Currently digital copies of The Hate U Give are available with no wait until July 19. That means you don't need to place a hold or wait on a list. Just check it out anytime before July 19, and keep it for the full, lending period, up to three weeks.
Find it in ebook and audiobook formats on OverDrive or the Libby app, along with other titles on the Black Lives Matter Community Reads list.
