Meet the New LibrarianKatrina Ehrnman-Newton comes to Garden Home from Humboldt County, California where she was a branch manager for the past four years. Her emphasis has been on programming for families and includes Free Comic Book Day, Story Time for Children of All Abilities, and gaming events for all ages. When not at work she likes to go mushrooming, knit, and relax at home with her husband and three cats.

Our monthly family movie days are back, and we’re kicking them off with Captain Underpants the First Epic Movie! It’s based on the popular series by Dav Pilkey, The Adventures of Captain Underpants. “The plot follows two imaginative elementary school pranksters named George Beard and Harold Hutchins (Hart and Middleditch) who hypnotize their mean-spirited principal, Mr. Krupp (Helms), into thinking he is Captain Underpants, a superhero who fights crime while wearing only underwear and a cape who George and Harold write comic books about.” Wikipedia We’ll make the popcorn, see you there!

Sensory Play Station: All day. We’ll have a table set up with autumnal sights, smells, sounds, and textures for children to explore and enjoy. Crunch some leaves, pet some acorns, and smell the spices that go into cider. Wild Food and Foraging Workshop: 1:00-4:00 p.m. Join John Kallas of Wild Food Adventures for a three hour workshop on local wild food for families, including a foraging walk through the Garden Home neighborhood. Music, Cider, and Crafts: 4:30-6:00 p.m. Join us to hear a trio of local musicians, enjoy a cup of cider, and try your hand on some seasonal crafts.
