We hope you enjoy our fourth issue of the Fort Scott Public Library newsletter. You are receiving it because you provided us with your email address for library notifications. We will be open beginning Monday, April 3rd!
Thank you for your patience while we remodeled.
Thank you to all our volunteers. Your willingness to get down on the floor and scrub, haul boxes and furniture from one building to the other, and organize and shift our books was wonderful! We wouldn't be opening yet if it weren't for you.
Adult Coloring Program Soon we will begin a monthly adult coloring program at the library. The library will provide coloring pages, coloring implements, and snacks. If you are interested in attending and have specific times or days that are best for you, please email us at email@example.com and let us know.
eBooks Did you know you can check out eBooks from the library? Use your Fort Scott library card and password at Sunflower eLibrary
Or we can create a Kansas Library eCard account for you, and you can choose from several eBook options offered through the State Library of Kansas.
We'll be happy to help you get started.
Story time Story time is back! On April 4th at 10 a.m., Miss Val will lead families through the newly renovated library for a child-focused tour, read a story, and use the new event room for a craft and snack. Then from April 11 - May 23, Miss Val will offer thematic story times every Tuesday at 10 a.m., based on seasons, holidays, and favorite theme suggestions from children. Each week we will offer stories, songs, a craft or activity, and a snack. Children may play with toys and check out books and movies upstairs afterwards, while parents and grandparents enjoy grown-up socializing. We also invite parents of babies and preschoolers to sign their children up for our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten early literacy program.
Summer Reading Join us June - July of 2017 for an exciting summer reading program for all ages with the theme "Build a Better World." We are requesting donations of LEGO™ and comparable blocks for use in the program. Also, we are seeking guest readers/speakers who specialize in the fields of construction, environmental, science, arts, engineering, technology, mathematics, and any non-profits or projects designed to make our world a better place.
Last summer, several volunteers helped with crafts, snacks, story time, registration, and book browsing, in addition to donors who provided much-needed food, craft supplies, and cash to help make the program great. If you are interested in finding out how you can volunteer or donate for this year's program, email Miss Val at firstname.lastname@example.org. Many volunteers and donors sign up for only an hour out of the whole summer's programming, but that hour makes a big difference!
Sorry, we haven't added anything new this month while we've been moving. You can look in the catalog www.seknfind.org to see what other libraries have added. We'll be back next month with plenty of new items.
