Kristen Thorp starts November 18 We are so pleased to share that we have a new Community Library Supervisor for the West Slope Community Library! Her name is Kristen Thorp, and she is currently the Youth Services Manager at the Eugene Public Library. Kristen’s first day at the library will be November 18. Here’s an overview of the process we went through to select Kristen. Scoring of applications by: - Crystal Trice (WCCLS)
- Marianne Coalson (Manager at Cedar Mill Bethany Library)
- Jerianne Thompson (Director of Tualatin Public Library)
First round of interviews with: - Terisa Brown (Interim Community Library Supervisor at West Slope)
- PJ (Program Supervisor at WCCLS)
- Erin Sullivan (Library Board Chair)
- Lisa Tattersall (Manager of WCCLS)
Second round of interviews with PJ and Lisa Kristen really impressed the panel with her vibrant energy, enthusiasm, and work experience. She’s been working in libraries (California, Colorado, and Eugene) for 16 years, and has held almost every position possible in the library, so she brings a well-rounded knowledge of public library service to West Slope. Budgets, supervision and team-building, facilities management and reconfigurations, partnership development, grant writing, and developing new library services…. Kristen has done it all! Kristen’s commitment to supporting and encouraging her staff really came through in our interviews with her, as well as her passion for connecting with community members and engaging with them to ensure the library serves their needs. She laughs a lot and will bring an atmosphere of warmth, fun and positivity to the library. Kristen calls herself a fiber artist and a Maker, and constantly has multiple projects going. She loves traveling and having new adventures, especially spending time in the water or on a beach. -Terisa Brown, Interim Community Library Supervisor |
