Validate Teens' Search for Identity
with Soul-Searching Books

Who am I? Teens struggle with this question every day. They have a need to be known and to be seen. They want to know they're not alone, and that the world sees the things they are going through. Books can speak to this need, offering safe spaces for exploration and validation. The tools below may assist you in helping teens find the reads they need now.

So the Oscars are (slightly) less white, the Black Panther movie is a smash hit, and the 2018 Youth Media Awards had better diversity representation across the board than in years past.

Award-winning librarian Deborah Taylor created an annotated list for NoveList.

Find it by searching in NoveList for Black Teen Lives Matter and click on the Lists & Articles tab.
