Navigating Nonfiction
It's the most wonderful time of the year!*
*your mileage may vary

Chances are your library is seeing an uptick in interest for horror-related books and movies right now. Why not highlight your collection's hair-raising nonfiction alongside your well-loved Stephen King paperbacks and such cinema classics as Hocus Pocus?

Local histories may be the place to start. In my experience, there's a lot of supernatural-centric local lore out there; a personal favorite is Ghost Railroads of Indiana. But if your area is ghost-free (bummer!), read on (if you dare) for some scary search strategies...

Happy Horrorween!**

**(When I worked at a public library, I pushed pretty hard for this to be our Halloween display's title one year. I was outvoted. The horror!)

Ghosts and witches and monsters, oh my!
Consider these subject searches to summon your collections' spookier titles:

DE Haunted places
DE Ghosts
DE Supernatural
DE Paranormal phenomena
DE UFOs
DE Monsters
DE Witchcraft

To limit your results to adult nonfiction, add
"NF nonfiction AND RL 1" to your search.

Happy Bicentennial, Frankenstein!

Celebrate Frankenstein's bicentennial by spotlighting books about Mary Shelley
and her famous creation
(think biographies and scientific histories).

Frankenstein: How a Monster Became an Icon and In Search of Mary Shelley: The Girl Who Wrote Frankenstein (both featured on this flyer) were published earlier this year to
commemorate the event.

Psst...Is your library participating in Frankenreads?
