TeenLit Connection

You know the one.
That one genre that you don't understand, or you struggle to keep up with, or you just plain hate.
That one genre that leaves you flummoxed whenever teens ask for it.

It's your genre nemesis -- but it doesn't have to be. With NoveList's "All About" series of genre outlines, you can master your genre nemesis and be ready for any genre-based reading requests.

Each "All About" genre outline includes:
  • a brief definition
  • common themes and characteristics
  • key titles, series, and authors that have known appeal
  • a "why readers like it" section
  • some marketing tips and tricks
Essentially, it's a cheat sheet that gives you quick information for facing down your genre nemesis (or any other genre, for that matter).

Don't be daunted by dystopia

With the recent release of the movie based on Alexandra Bracken's Darkest Minds trilogy, you might see a new surge of interest in dystopian fiction at your library.

Make the most out of that interest by reading the genre outline (search NoveList for "All About Dystopian Fiction for Teens" or "UI 440313"), setting up a read-alike display, and talking with your teen patrons about dystopian fiction: Do they love it or hate it? Do they think it's played out, or eerily close to reality?

However they answer, you'll be ready with the right recommendation.
