July 2020: Bookfluencers: Using Social Media To Recommend Books
Wed, July 29, 2020, 2:00 – 3:30 pm
Looking to get creative with readers’ advisory through YouTube and Instagram? Join an event sponsored by Adult Reading Round Table and learn from four Bookfluencers how to successfully promote books to library patrons and other readers in the BookTube and Bookstagram communities.
This program is sponsored and organized by ARRT and hosted by RAILS.
This is a free online program. You don’t have to be an ARRT or RAILS member to participate, but spots are limited, so register now: https://tinyurl.com/bookfluencers
Virtual Book Club Study Save-the-Dates!
Rocket Men : The Daring Odyssey of Apollo 8 and the Astronauts Who Made Man's First Journey to the Moon by Robert Kurson
Instead of the genre study, we are now offering 2020 Book Chat. COVID-19 has changed our lives and work schedules. Now ARRT is changing the Genre Study to support you! We are suspending the Narrative Nonfiction Genre Study and will relaunch it in the future when library workers' lives are more stable. For now, we want to focus on stress relief, community and readers' advisory (without any feelings of "homework" being due.)
2020 Book Chat
When: August 6, 2 pm.
Register here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) style program that has some simple guidelines:
Bring any title that you'd like to share with the group. Any genre. Fiction or Nonfiction. Movies, Television, Podcasts, Music welcome too!
If you can, show us the cover art! If not, the moderators will try to display the cover.
you have 90 seconds to booktalk the appeals and convince us to add it to our growing To Be Read Lists. Great practice for getting you hook in quick, just like when talking to library users.
To participate, register here.
The discussion will be moderated by the ARRT Genre Study Team. We are asking for registration so we can gauge attendance, and accept you to the meeting. If turnout is too large, we may break up into rooms.
We will be recording authors and titles in the Chat, which will serve as the meeting notes.
