Submit a Pi Poem March 1 - March 11 March 14 is Pi Day! From March 1-11, write and submit your own pi poem. What's a pi poem? Each line of a pi poem has a number of words equal to each digit of pi. The first 15 digits of pi are... 3.14159265358979 This means the first line of your pi poem must have 3 words. The second line of your pi poem must have 1 word. The third line of your pi poem must have 4 words. And so on and so forth. SUBMISSION RULES: - Your pi poem must be 5 (minimum) - 15 (maximum) lines long.
- Your pi poem must have the correct number of words in each line.
- You must be 12 years old or younger. One submission per poet.
- Submit your pi poem by email to pipoem@buenaparklibrary.org by 11:59PM on March 11th. In your email, please include the poet’s name and age and the title of the pi poem.
- Failure to adhere to rules will result in pi poem disqualification.
Library employees will vote on their favorite pi poem and the winner will be contacted on Pi Day, March 14th. The winner will receive an awe inspiring pi pie pan (a pie pan in the shape of the symbol pi [π]). All pi poems submitted by March 11th will be displayed in the Children’s Room through the end of March.

Read to a BARK Therapy Dog Tuesday: March 12th at 6:45PM - 7:45PM Children's Fiction Area Kids 12 and younger, come read to our dog pals in the Children's fiction area. Readers will receive a time slot with a dog on a first come, first served basis. No pre-registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.

Women's Career Panel Saturday: March 16th at 2:00PM Second-Floor Bookstore Join us as we celebrate Women's History Month with a career panel featuring a female medical doctor, firefighter, and wildlife educator. Hear about their careers and how they got to where they are today. Teens, preteens, and children ages 4 and up are welcome. Light refreshments will be served. At 3:00PM, a fire truck from the Orange County Fire Authority will be onsite for program attendees to tour. Meet OCFA firefighters and learn about the inner workings of a fire truck. Please note: the panel portion of this program is open to attendees ages 4 and up. All ages are welcome to tour the fire truck. If called to an emergency, the fire truck might not arrive or might leave this event early. No pre-registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.

Science Saturday: Rockets! Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00AM Library Front Lawn Kids in 2nd-6th grades, come learn about rockets and Newton’s third law of motion. Make your own rocket and watch it get launched. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.

Book Club for Adults Thursday: March 14th at 5:00PM Second-Floor Boardroom Join us this month for a discussion on The It Girl by Ruth Ware. Ruth Ware's The It Girl is a mystery centered on two friends/roommates: Hannah Jones and April Clarke-Cliveden. The girls meet up at Oxford and quickly team up with a group of friends: Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily. However, by the end of the year, April is dead. Now, ten years have passed.
