Sykes explains in layperson's terms how Mitochondrial DNA has identified the seven mothers from whom we are all descended. That's right... all of us! He also goes on to depict what life may have been like for these ancient mothers. A great read for those interested in human origins.
The first (and most loved) horror story I ever picked up was King's novel, The Mist. Right after seeing the movie, I knew right away I had to read the novel that started it all. What I got when I read this story was dark world-building tied together by an ever increasingly dramatic series of conflicts, which culminated into one big, dense moment.
I read this book in middle school, and I haven't found many people who have read this book as well. It is a story about how a tragic event brings together two unlikely individuals who have to rely on each other to survive, overcoming issues of race, age, class, and disability.
