Story Central Virtual Storytelling Slam

Join us for this opportunity for adults to enter a friendly competition to share true, first-person stories -- not poems or essays -- of approximately 5-7 minutes in length. Adults are welcome to sign up to tell a story or just sit back, listen and enjoy. Judges in the audience select the winner, who is awarded a prize. Stories are not to be read or memorized. Hosted by Caren Neile, PhD, who has taught storytelling studies at FAU for nearly two decades.

Goal Setting for Diabetes Presented by NSU

This class is designed to help people who have diabetes or who care for those with diabetes understand medication options. Some people can manage it with healthy eating and exercise, or with oral medications, while others may also need to use insulin. The important thing is to feel your best! Presented by the Interprofessional Diabetes Education and Awareness (IDEA) Initiative at Nova Southeastern University.

Read Together Palm Beach County Book Club

The Boca Raton Public Library joins The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County for the 12th Read Together Palm Beach County program in which adults throughout the county read the same book at the same time. The Nickel Boys, by Colson Whitehead, is this year's pick. Whitehead won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for this book of fiction -- his second Pulitzer Prize in four years. The discussion will be led by Marcella Trevino, who currently teaches Multiculturalism in Florida’s History at Barry University. NaNoWriMo Young Writers

Join us for National Novel Writing Month any time in November to work toward writing your own novel or novella. Aspiring writers will get inspiration from writing prompts and writing help from our instructors. There are two classes: 9-12-year-olds and 13-18-year-olds.
