The Friends of the Lewisville Library's Virtual Book Club Tuesday, Oct. 27, 3 p.m. The group reads a mixture of fiction (all genres) and nonfiction, and the books are selected by the group. Men & women take part in a lively discussion about their favorite past time: READING! The group will meet virtually via Zoom. Attendees will need to create a Zoom account or download the app on their mobile device.

Lewisville Reading Challenge Need a project to keep you busy while you are social distancing? Participate in the Lewisville Branch Library's Reading Challenge. Here's how it works: Your library challenges you to read a variety of books throughout the year. Complete the reading challenge (print form below), which encourages readers to step into a wide variety of stories and genres. When you finish, please submit your form to the Lewisville Branch Library by Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 to be in the drawing for a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card. Good Luck!

Virtual StoryTime Every Thursday at 10 a.m. Join us for stories, rhymes, songs and activities designed to improve early literacy. Recommended for children ages 2 - 5 years and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Registration required.
You will be emailed a link and password to attend the Zoom meeting one day before the program starts. If you do not have a webcam or microphone, you may still attend.

Teen Advisory Board
Monday, Oct. 5 , 5 p.m.
Lewisville Branch Library's Teen Advisory Board is made up of Lewisville Branch Library's teen volunteers. We meet virtually on the first Monday of the month (during the school year) to discuss ways to improve the Lewisville Branch Library. The Teen Advisory Board helps to plan programs, create displays, and suggests resources that the library should purchase.

College Foundation of North Carolina Presents: Answering Student and Parent Questions about the 2021-22 FAFSA Tuesday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m. Although the future may seem uncertain right now, completing the FAFSA is one way students can keep their options open. Students considering attending college in the fall of 2021 need to complete the 2021-22 FAFSA to apply for federal financial aid, as well as some state and institutional aid.
In this webinar, students and parents will receive an introduction to the FAFSA and have their FAFSA questions answered. The free webinar will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. CLICK to register. Click on "Show in My Time Zone" at the top of the registration page. We will use GoToWebinar for this training which can be accessed from any computer, so students and parents can view the webinar from the convenience of their home.

Mad Hatter's Virtual Book Club for Teens Monday, Oct. 19, 4:30 p.m. The Mad Hatter's Book Club meets virtually via Zoom. The participants (ages 12-18) choose a topic (chosen at the meeting the month before) and we all research whatever we want related to that topic. We could read fiction or nonfiction books, watch movies, read news articles, etc. We then discuss what we found out at our meeting. There is no pressure to speak. Be sure to wear a funny hat if you have one!

Book in a Jar Oct. 14 - 28 Your librarians have shredded a book and placed it in a jar...gasp...the horror! Read the clue to guess which book met its gruesome end. Correct guesses will be entered to win a $10 gift card to Barnes & Noble. Fun for all ages.
