Located outside city boundaries, Cedar Mill residents organized the non-profit Cedar Mill Community Library Association in 1974. A Washington County bookmobile served the area until a small volunteer-run library opened in 1976 with help from WCCLS. The library has grown to occupy 24,500 square feet with a collection of over 200,000 items and active programs for all ages. The attached Second Edition Resale Shop benefits the library. The Association expanded services by opening the Bethany Library in July 2007. With 4,600 square feet of space and a collection of 55,000 items, this busy location just opened a new programming space, the Bethany Library Annex.

"First in the Wayward Children series. Did you love escaping into worlds like Narnia, Oz and Neverland as a kid? These beautifully written novellas follow the lives of children who found doors into magical worlds, but have been forced to return to Earth. Will they ever find their doors again?" - Marti, Cedar Mill Community Library

"It was fascinating to learn how much planning and care went into each episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and to better understand the man behind it. I highly recommend the audio version, narrated by LeVar Burton." - Laura B., Cedar Mill Community Library

"Murderbot is a self-governing SecUnit (who would rather be watching TV than dealing with humans) assigned to protect a science expedition in Martha Wells's brilliant SF novella. When a neighboring expedition goes dark, they begin to socialize and self-examine. There are three more novellas in the series!" - Patrick, Bethany Library

Bethany Library Annex Sean Gaskell plays the West African Kora, a beautiful 21-stringed instrument that is native to the Mande peoples who live within the countries of Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau. The music is traditionally played by oral and musical historians known as Griots (Gree-ohs). While the Kora is only 300 years old, some commonly played songs can be traced back 800 years to the Mande empire's founding. This performance will appeal to all ages.
