Mark your calendars! The 15th annual Art of the Story Festival is April 27 through May 4. This year’s program will feature four renowned professional storytellers and three storytelling showcases with local performers in fourteen free events.
El día de los niños, commonly known as Día, is a celebration of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on the last day of April. This year, many WCCLS libraries are offering fun, inclusive programs for children and their families to celebrate Día.

Did you know many WCCLS libraries offer storytimes in multiple languages? You can find Arabic Storytime at Beaverton City Library, Mandarin Storytime at Bethany Library, Vietnamese Storytime at Hillsboro Public Library, and Spanish Storytime at Aloha Community, Cornelius Public, Garden Home Community, and Sherwood Public libraries. By offering storytimes in multiple languages, our member libraries extend the joy of reading together to more children and families in Washington County.
Looking to expand your own linguistic skills? Try Mango Languages. With your library card you can access Mango’s list of over 70 language courses, which includes Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, and Korean. Mango includes interactive exercises and the ability to record and listen to yourself speak.
Congratulations to Cornelius Public Library! The library held the grand opening for its new building on March 30, welcoming visitors and community leaders from Cornelius and across the county. The new building offers a great space for children and parents to read and play, an exclusive room for teens, study and meeting rooms, and spaces for community programs.
Everyone’s got a good library story, and we want to hear yours. We welcome all kinds: the funny, the weird, the heartwarming, and the inspiring. Tell us your story, and we might share it on social media, our website, or in our newsletters!
