Thousands of WCCLS cardholders use the Libby app every day to enjoy e-books and audiobooks on their phones and tablets. The selection is great and it's easy to use, but did you know Libby also has features that help save your time as a reader?
You can find an estimate of how long it will take to finish an e-book based on your reading speed. You can view the waiting time for popular titles. You can find the series information for any title when browsing. And you can speed through audiobooks by changing the playback speed.
Sound pretty great? The Libby app works with Android, iOS, and Windows 10.
Your Libraries By The Numbers
Your WCCLS member libraries are busy! 285,906 people attending youth programs. 492,699 research sessions. 11,252,883 total checkouts. 15.5 million catalog searches. These numbers might be mind-boggling, but they are an achievement of the thousands of people who use the library every day. These numbers mean students found homework help. Job hunters built career skills. Entrepreneurs were able to do business research. Children boosted their literacy skills. And they mean thousands of you found a good book to read. Well done!
Approximately 30% of all first grade students in Washington County are Latino. For many Latino households, Spanish is their first language. Since access to books in a reader’s first language improves their English literacy, WCCLS libraries strive to provide high-quality books for our users who speak Spanish.
In December, librarians from Beaverton, Tigard, and Tualatin represented WCCLS libraries at the International Book Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico. They worked hard to find and select titles that are typically unavailable in the United States. With the addition of those new books, over 48,000 Spanish-language items are now available for you and your neighbors to enjoy!
A Booklist for Every Kind of Reader
