Summer or not, keep the slide on the playground

We’ve all seen studies citing summer or other breaks in the school year as a time when kids with no access to stimulating experiences or books can slip behind their peers. The effects are sobering and can be long-lasting. However, keeping the focus on finding fun, interesting books to pique kids’ interest will go a long way toward making the slide just another thing on the playground. Even if you are not in the midst of summer now, you can use these tips for any school break.
