You have 10 minutes to show NoveList in your staff meeting, what do you cover? We know it's tough to narrow down the highlights for your staff, so here's a list to get you going.
Start at the homepage:
- Book carousel and link to Appeal Mixer - Let your staff know that they can search NoveList by the mood that a book evokes. While we feature combinations in our homepage carousel, make sure to point out the Appeal Mixer link so that they can create their own combos.
- Browse Genres and Keeping Up sections - We know that your staff will appreciate the genre refreshers that we have created. Let them know that they can use the Browse Genres section as a quick solution for finding books on popular genres and subgenres.
Tackle searching:
- Read-alikes - We have some read-alikes featured at the homepage but go ahead and show your staff that you can search for any book (or author...or series) and find read-alikes at the record.
- Advanced Search - Give them a taste of what they can search, at the Advanced Search page. Show the field drop-down so that they know the types of fields they can search, and then show the limiters.
NoveList features that make their work easier:
- Point out the toolbar at the top to show your staff how you can access Awards lists (Browse By), content to help with their RA work or work with young readers (Especially For), and all the great articles and lists they can find in NoveList (Quick Links)
Phew! Have a couple minutes to spare? Let them know that they can use the How Do I? menu to find information on common questions that they face. Then point them to our YouTube channel and our Search Strategies so they aren't left empty-handed when they want to learn more.
