Spring into action for the Library! Springtime is New York State budget time, and this year Governor Cuomo has proposed a $4 million CUT in Library State Aid as well as a CUT of $5 million to the Public Library Construction fund. What this means for you: A cut in Library State Aid will have a domino effect which may cause 1. An increase in fees that the Fallsburg Library will have to pay to RCLS to continue services such as 3x a week deliveries, e-book access, tech support, and so much more OR 2. RCLS will have to cut back on the amount of services given to member libraries - including the Fallsburg Library. How to help: Tell Governor Cuomo and your state representatives how important libraries are to you and that funding to libraries should NOT be cut. The New York Library Association has put together a draft letter which you can edit (if you like) and email to your state representatives. Just CLICK HERE to send your letter of Library Support! It will only take a couple of minutes. Thank you for your support!

Into the Water by Paula HawkinsA single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she'd never return. With the same propulsive writing and acute understanding of human instincts that captivated millions of readers around the world in her explosive debut thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins delivers an urgent, twisting, deeply satisfying read that hinges on the deceptiveness of emotion and memory, as well as the devastating ways that the past can reach a long arm into the present. Beware a calm surface—you never know what lies beneath. Look for this title May 2, 2017
