The Library Has Closed Early
Due to a failure with our air conditioning system, the library will be closing at 10AM today.

Free Ice Cream Every Monday Even though the building is closed today, you can still join us in saying goodbye to the Summer Reading Program with delicious ice cream!
The Polar Pops ice cream truck will be parked in front of the library every Monday in August from 1-5PM. PRPL cardholders will be able to get free ice cream, sponsored by the Friends of the Pearl River Library. All proceeds from the sponsorship will go to go to Canine Assistants and the Timothy DeVisser Scholarship Fund, created by the Northeast Epilepsy Group through their website Epilepsy Free.

Art Boot Camp: Suminagashi (Paper Marbling) and Japanese Book Binding Tuesday, Aug. 18; Thursday, Aug. 20; and Friday, Aug. 21 (1-3PM) Join us for a three day workshop with artist Christina DiMarco. You will learn about the history of Suminagashi (ink floating on water or paper marbling) and then spend two days creating your own marbled papers with supplies provided by PRPL (items will need to be picked up at the library before the first class). The last class will be spent using the marbled paper to create handmade books that can be used as journals, sketch pads and more. Christina has practiced and taught Suminagashi, marbling and Japanese bookbinding for over 20 years in the Hudson Valley. For students entering grades 5-10. These classes will be taught via Zoom. Please commit to all three classes. All supplies will be available for pickup before the first class.

A Walk Through History Part 2 Tuesday, August 11, 9:30-10:30AM Local history walks are back with Jim Cassetta leading you on a morning stroll down Franklin Avenue to Main Street, and back up Franklin Ave to the library. Jim will tell you the history of almost every building along the way. Wear comfortable shoes and you will take a short stroll up and down Franklin Avenue's interesting history. The pace is leisurely. We will meet in front of the Library at 9:30AM to beat the summer heat. If you are new to town this is a good way to introduce yourself to this hamlet's history. We will observe 6 foot distancing and please bring a face covering of your choice.
