Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther Visits Liberty Public Library!
On Monday, August 9th, Aileen Gunther was a guest speaker at the Senior Coffee Club! She took questions from the community at the Liberty Public Library, and we thanked her for supporting construction aid, which helped with the much needed renovation. For more information click here!

Wednesday, August 18th, is National Bad Poetry Day! Do what you love, write like nobody is watching, and don't worry if your words aren't perfect. Poetry is all about free expression and love of the written word!

On Saturday, August 21st, not too long after National Bad Poetry Day, is National Poet's Day!  Whether it's a well known poet or a friend, take the time to appreciate them, and their work! And don't forget to ask your local librarian for their favorite recommendations!

Battle of the Books!
 
Saturday, August 28th is the annual Battle of the Books, which will take place this year via Zoom. Teens from around the system will show their book knowledge in this exciting team event!

Fall into Books!
 
Join in the fun! Registration is now open for Fall into Books which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October, 26th. For a nominal fee of $30, attend the virtual 21st annual children's and teen literature conference! The first 50 registrants will receive a free book illustrated by Raul Colon!

RCLS was at Minisink Valley Community Day on Sunday, August 1st to raise money to build the first ever Minisink Valley Public Library! For additional information, or to make a donation to this amazing cause, click here!
 
Miss Kimberly's Outdoor Summer Reading Craft!
The Orangeburg Library had an absolutely adorable turnout for Miss Kimberly's Outdoor Summer Reading Craft! The kids made 3D snorkel masks, and CD fish! There's no better way to spend summer vacation than supporting your local library!

Gilda's Love Westchester Partnership:
Has cancer affected your life? Here's your chance to share your story. Rockland County Library System (RCLS), Westchester Library System (WLS), and the Library Association of Rockland County (LARC), have teamed up to create a contest for teens ages 13-17, who reside in the Westchester, Rockland, and Fairfield County Areas. Participants can write an essay, a poem, create artwork, or a video for a grand prize of $250 in each category. Submissions end on Monday, November 1st at 5:00p.m.
