Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival!
Sunday, September 11
Join us on Sunday, September 11th from 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival! This festival celebrates the harvest moon at its brightest and fullest and is a time for family and celebration. We'll have a paper lantern craft, mooncakes, the Red panda Acrobats, a Challenge School Dance performance at 2:30, and a musical performance by Melody of China at 3:30 (see below for details).

Emperor's Treasurers Docent Lecture

Through the Asian Art Museum's exquisite paintings, ceramics, jades and more, this docent lecture explores the identities of nine rulers who reigned from the 12th through 20th centuries. Each ruler's contribution to the arts and the era's changing styles, reveals how emperors' personal tastes shaped the evolution of art in China. 
Herstory Art Exhibit Reception

The Herstory: Chinese-American Women, 165 Years of Struggle and Success exhibit will be on view through September. Learn about the women who fought for equal treatment in the eyes of the law for citizenship and immigration rights through rare photographs and case descriptions. Presented by Dr. Chang C. Chen.
Red Panda Acrobats

The Red Panda Acrobat, Wayne Huey, will bring his professional performance to the library to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival 2016. Trained in China, Wayne has performed in many places across the country, including fesitvals, fairs, sports games, and TV shows.

To celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, the Melody of China will perform both traditional and contemporary music as well as new commissioned works. 
Clara Yen's Storytelling
Wednesday, September 14, 7:00 PM

As a child, Clara Yen would sit enraptured with the stories of her parents, listening to them speak about their childhood in China. She recreates those memories for herself, her family, and her listeners, by delicately weaving family lore with folk tales and English with Mandarin. A storyteller for the Livermore Public Library and teacher in the Livermore schools, Yen has been a featured performer at libraries and festivals around the state. 
Batman Day

Come celebrate Batman Day with us! We'll be making Batman capes and you can take your picture as Lego Batman and Robin.
Voter Registration Day

Tuesday, September 27 is National Voter Registration Day! Make sure that you are registered to have your voice heard. The Library will have a table available throughout the day for you to register.

Upcycle Craft - Yarn-Wrapped Pots

Navratri is a festival of triumph over evil. Explore the geometry and emotions of dance with the Natyashubam dancers. United by their passion for art and inspired by the depth of the art form, the dancers pay a tribute to the Hindu Gods and Goddesses. 
Move to the Beat Autumn Festival

We're starting our Autumn Music Fest, Move to the Beat, with Sandor Y Su Mecanica on Thursday, October 6 at 6:30 PM! They'll help us celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with their combination of Cuban and traditional salsa, Musica Tipica, and folkloric music.  We'll also be hosting Karma Beats on Thursday, October 13, Trio Camino on October 20, and Dave Rocha Jazz on November 3! 
 
Festival of Lights - Diwali Celebration

With her distinct stage presence, Deepa Menon leads her audiences with effortless ease and grace through a whole range of aesthetic dance experiences. Join her and her students in celebrating Diwali. Deepa Menon is Founder and Artist Director of the Netra Center for Arts.
