Help! I am in a reading rut. I never know what to read next. I like Lee Child's books, and keep coming back to those, as I don't know how to find similar authors. Can you recommend some authors please?
|
You might like to try the Alex Cross books by James Patterson, the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly or the Will Robie series by David Baldacci. You can also visit the 'What do I read next' page on our website. Here you will find great resources to help find your next read. I particularly recommend Novelist Plus!

My ten year old seems to have a lot of homework this year. Some of it is research based and I don't know how to help her find the information she needs. I am also a bit worried about letting her loose on the internet. Does the library provide homework help sessions?
|
We do not offer specific homework help sessions in the library, but we can definitely help! We have some great online resources on our Kids eLibrary page. The Te Ara online encyclopaedia and the New Zealand Geographic site that can be found here are great for anything New Zealand related. More general online encyclopaedias can also be found on this page. If these aren't quite what you need, you can also use 'Any Questions' for live online chat with trained librarians who will help your child find the information they need. Another option, is to 'Book a Librarian' for a free half hour session and we can help with the research process.

Convenience store woman
by Sayaka Murata
A Japanese woman who has been working at a convenience store for 18 years, much to the disappointment of her family, finds friendship with her coworker - an alienated, cynical and bitter young man.
Quirky, and a little disturbing at time, this is a quick, fun read!
