Join us on Facebook on Wednesday, October 21 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. for a discussion on The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love, and Create a New Future by Chris Guillebeau. This business-focused virtual book club will introduce participants to solutions, ideas, and new professional colleagues with flexibility to communicate with others through online comments at any time. The topics will focus on entrepreneurial success stories, professional development tips and profiles of successful business people. The live discussion will be held on the NaperLaunch Facebook page.

Two NaperLaunch Master Mind groups have been meeting since March, although we shifted to a virtual format after just one meeting. Each group is made up of 8-10 business founders who are sharing strategies, resource ideas and positive conversation each month to move their business towards long-range goals. There is room in our schedule to form another group. the requirements are that the business must be past the startup phase and consistently producing revenue. The meetings of a new group will be on the first Thursday each month at 9:15 a.m.. For now, the meetings continue to be virtual on zoom. The coworking space at Nichols Library remains closed. However, the library is open and there is still plenty of room for those looking for a place to work. There are requirements for face coverings in the building and to meet social distancing only one person per table. There is a still quite a bit of business being carried out at the library.

The NaperLaunch Academy curriculum helps entrepreneurs develop fundamental business knowledge and learn the “lean startup process.” The workshops are free and will lead to the creation of a professional business plan. Business Conceptualization Tuesday, October 20, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Online Video Conference Founders will gain understanding on how to use a lean business model canvas to develop a business concept and how to craft a powerful unique value proposition. They will also engage in a self-assessment of their entrepreneurial skills and learn how to compensate for any weaknesses. This workshop will be held virtually via Zoom.

Startup Financial Essentials Tuesday, October 27, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Online Video Conference Learn basic concepts about funding strategies and sources, pricing models and break-even analysis. Attendees will understand how to determine the amount of money needed for a startup, how to establish an appropriate price of their product or service and how to complete a break-even analysis. This workshop will be held virtually via Zoom.

Business Planning Tuesday, November 10, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Online video Conference Learn the basics of business planning and get an introduction to library resources designed specifically to help business owners write a business plan. Attendees will understand the benefits of writing a plan, the basic components of a plan and how to use library databases such as the Gale Business: Plan Builder software. This workshop is being held virtually via Zoom.

Online Video Conference Learn the concept of a strategic marketing plan in the format of vision, goals, objectives, strategies and tactics. 18 different marketing channels and their relative costs, as well as how to use the Gale Business: Plan Builder software to create a written strategic marketing plan will also be discussed. Selling Skills Tuesday, November 24, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Online Video Conference Selling is perhaps the single most important skill for an entrepreneur. Learn six fundamental professional selling skills and how to use them in sales transactions. Specific networking strategies and development of referral sources will be addressed.
