Listed here are times when a volunteer from the Fox Valley Genealogical Society will be available in the adult services department to help any interested individuals who wish to obtain assistance either to get started on a genealogy project or to complete difficult genealogical research challenges. The first class will include appropriate methods for collecting and organizing family history information. The second class will demonstrate effective search techniques, the genealogical proof standard, and where to look for free and affordable genealogical resources.

Military Genealogy Saturday, August 19, 10 a.m. Nichols Library Community Room Tina Beaird, owner of Tamarack Genealogy and the Genealogy & Local History librarian of the Plainfield Public Library, will explain the significance behind using original records for tracing one’s ancestor's military service. Records from the American Revolution to WWII will be discussed as well as sources for modern records. Learn what types of documents are available within federal, state and local archives.
