The SCORE Women's Business Roundtable meets on the first Wednesday each month, at 9:30 a.m. at the 95th Street Library. An evening edition of the SCORE Business Roundtable meets on the third Wednes- day each month, at 7:00 p.m. at the Nichols Library in the NaperLaunch space.

SCORE Mentor Open Office Hours

SCORE Mentors will be available on a regular basis at NaperLaunch. SCORE mentors will maintain regular office hours this month in the NaperLaunch Room on Mondays from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Outdoor Workspace Available
|
|
Enjoy the outdoors working at the Nichols Library. The NaperLaunch co-working space has been expanded to outdoors on the lower level next to the Jackson Avenue entrance. Free Wi-Fi, limited seating and electrical power are available. Come on down and plug in!

Join in the experience of the Pitch Session and extend your appreciation for making an effective pitch. After attending the monthly pitch training sessions entrepreneurs have the opportunity to practice making a pitch in a safe environment. Pitchers learn through feedback how to improve and strengthen their pitch. Observers learn from the experiences of others. The next Pitch Session will be November 30, 2017. To register, go to:

IP Part 1: Patents and Trade Secrets

Patents and trade secrets often can cover the same information. However, the steps for obtaining each and the level of protection for each are quite different. This workshop will describe the requirements for protecting trade secrets and obtaining patents, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of choosing one form over the other and discuss enforcement against infringements. This workshop is useful for entrepreneurs who have existing businesses and those considering beginning a business.

Entrepreneur's Week: Intellectual property as a business asset has become increasingly important in the information age. This workshop will focus on two forms of intellectual property: trademarks and copyrights. Although somewhat similar, each covers different forms of expression for different purposes, and each offers different kinds of protection. This workshop will examine the creation and maintenance of each and how to enforce one's rights against would-be infringers, and is useful for entrepreneurs who have existing businesses and those considering beginning a business.
