Back to School Basics Monday, August 28, 11:00 am-4:00 pm Ages 3-5 with Adult Hip-Hip Hooray, School! Drop-in to practice basic skills we all love to do just in time for the start of school. No Registration.

Sun Party Thursday, August 17, 3:00-4:00 pmGrades 2-8On Monday, August 21 there will be a solar eclipse! Learn all about eclipses, how to safely view them, and make a viewing box in time for the eclipse. There will be special guest presenters! Register.

Solar Eclipse Party Monday, August 21, 12:30-2:00 pm All Ages 87% of the sun will be covered today! Safely view the eclipse, learn about solar eclipses, and make a fun craft! The Space Science Institute, NCIL and StarNet have graciously donated safety glasses for this event. This event is free and open to the public. No Registration

Pre-School and Lapsit Storytimes will take a break in August to give Youth Services Staff time to prepare for fall programs. Storytimes will resume on Tuesday, September 12.

Young Artists Workshop Friday, August 11, 4:00-5:30 pm Grades 3-8 "Colography" Young artists will be discovering the art of Colography by assembling a printing plate from found objects, inking it, and pulling a print! Register

Search-And-Find Clifford August All Ages Where’s Clifford the Big Red Dog? Visit the Youth Services Department during the month of August to find Clifford and his three friends to earn a prize. No Registration.

Reading Patch Club Join the coolest club in town! Earn awesome patches by reading books or listening to someone read to you. When you earn five patches you will receive a PHPL Tote Bag. After you earn all of the patches, we will take your photo for our Finisher’s Frame. Register in Youth Services beginning Friday, September 1. Our new patch for the school year is Comics.

Read Down Your Fines Do you have overdue fines on your library card? Now you can read those fines away! Read Down Your Fines is a program intended to help children reduce their outstanding fines so they can continue to use their library card without interruption. The Program encourages and promotes reading among our young people. There are no restrictions on what you can read. Young adults may also read to or with younger children and both of you can get credit for the time. Stop by the Youth Services desk for more information.

Book Box Grades 3-8 Subscribe for the Library's version of a subscription box. Enjoy a newly released J Fiction or Young Adult book and other fun bookish treats each month. Choose between realistic, mystery/thriller, scary, fantasy, science fiction, or historical fiction. Come to the Youth Services department to fill out your request, or find it online under the Youth Services tab. Return your box with the book each month for a new one.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a Library program that encourages all families and caregivers to read at least 1000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Reading to preschool-age children builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them with the skills they need for Kindergarten. In as little as 15 minutes a day, families can build the skills for future school and life success. Register in the Youth Services Department and earn prizes along the way!

100 Books Before High School Grades 5-8 100 Books Before High School is a Library program that inspires reading. Participants choose a reading reward after every 10 books and a free book after 100. Hurry into the Library today to register in the Youth Services Department.
