HISTORICALLY SPEAKING: TULSA RACE MASSACRE

Following World War I, the Greenwood District in Tulsa was nationally known as "Black Wall Street" due to the thriving and affluent community of African Americans and African American run businesses that made their home in the area. But on May 31st after a young black teenager named Dick Rowland was falsely accused of sexually assaulting a young white woman named Sarah Page, racial tensions became a powder keg that ended with 1000's of white Tulsans invading the Greenwood District, looting and burning homes and buildings as they went. This tragedy became one of the worst, but least known, incidents of racial violence in U.S. History. Join local historian, Bruce Fisher, to learn about the full story with recorded first hand accounts from survivors.

Come to a free three part series covering the basics of starting and operating a business in Oklahoma. Customers are welcome to attend the full program or just individual sessions that seem most relevant.The program is presented by SCORE of Oklahoma City. SCORE works to connect small business owners with seasoned professionals for low cost on-going training and free one on one mentoring. Session 2: Do you wonder why your business has sales but you still aren’t making money? Have you ever wanted to know what your balance sheet, income statement and cash flow really mean? Join us for this workshop which takes a brief look at the financial aspects of running a business. This workshop will take a look at understanding your finances, the basics of setting up a financial system, how to read and understand your financial statements, and more. Both new and existing small business owners will benefit from this workshop.
