Twelve-year-old Nova has autism and is almost completely nonverbal. From a young age, she and her sister Bridget have been in foster care. For the first time, the two are split apart. Now that she's with a new family and at a new school, Nova eagerly anticipates the 1986 Challenger launch as well as the return of her sister. This is an amazing historical fiction novel that really highlights a diverse voice. As a prior instructor for children who have autism, the author speaks from a place of experience. Additionally, the book is full of historical and scientific references, making this a great discussion book across subjects. The author's note provides additional background information on both the Challenger launch as well as autism. This is a touching story with an immensely heartbreaking climax. Those who read this book will be guaranteed to cry. However, it ends on a positive note, and the reader is left knowing that things will get better for Nova. This is a truly astounding book, perfect for fans of Wonder by R.J. Palacio or Rules by Cynthia Lord. 5/5 stars! Reviewed by Anna

Yo, Jane / Me...Janeby Patrick McDonnellAudience: Grades PreK - 2 Yo, Jane is the story of Jane Goodall. I love this book because it shows the love Jane had for animals since she was young and how she was always curious to find out everything she could about animals. Jane has a stuffed animal chimpanzee named Jubilee and a favorite tree, and she always had Jubilee with her at all times. They both learned about animals together. One of Jane's biggest dreams was to live in Africa with all the animals and care for them. Well, as we know, it comes true! I love this book because she shows how curious a child can be when they are interested in something and how all dreams are possible no matter how impossible they may seem at the time. At the end of the book, it has information on the life of Jane, as well as one of her messages which was very interesting to read. This is a great biography, perfect as an early introduction to STEM topics. Available in both English and Spanish texts. Reviewed by Maria
