Help fight summer learning loss by encouraging students to read. With e-books, students have access to books wherever they have access to internet. McHenry Public Library has three great options for finding ebooks for students.
It includes interactive books that are read aloud to students, games for comprehension, educational videos, and more. Titles are available in Spanish. TumbleBook Library requires a McHenry library card number to access. Additional registration is optional, but allows students to create a saved list of favorites.
Tumble Book Cloud Junior features readers, chapter books, and classics with a Read-Along feature - highlighting text as it is read aloud. Text size and color is also adjustable.
Graphic novels and regular novels that appeal to elementary students are also available through Tumble Book Cloud Junior.
Registration is optional, but allows students to create a saved list of favorites. No library card is needed for basic access.
OverDrive Kids and Teen Catalogs - A great resources for e-books and audiobooks, OverDrive Kids and Teens is an excellent option for independent readers to find books they'll love.
Students can browse for books by subject, collection, or reading level. Books can be downloaded to a tablet or device, or read or listened to through the web browser. A McHenry library card and an email address are required for access.
If downloading to a device, be sure to get Libby, OverDrive's new app for downloading, managing, and reading ebooks or listening to eaudiobooks. It is free from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft's Apps.
