PW asked staffers at children’s publishing houses to talk about their favorite children’s or YA book they read this year, and what they loved about it. NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement strives to increase K-12 involvement in NASA projects, enhance higher education, support underrepresented communities, strengthen online education, and boost NASA's contribution to informal education. CultureGrams has all this and more! There are four options to chose from: World Edition, States Edition, Kids Edition, and Provinces Edition. The World Edition discusses the world at large, the States Edition focuses on the United States, and the Provinces Edition provides information on Canada. The Kids Edition is specifically tailored for kids, as it consolidates information about the world in a simpler and more engaging way. It presents topics that kids would find interesting, such as food, games, school, and life as a kid. Any of these would be great options for students of all ages looking for detailed information for a homework assignment or research project. Each article even has a handy "Generate Citation" tool which automatically creates a citation in either APA or MLA. CultureGrams even has helpful resources for teachers and educators, which can be found at the bottom of the page under "Teaching Activities" and "Curriculum Standards," which will allow you to better implement CultureGrams into the classroom. Audience: grades 1-3 El día en que descubres quién eres by Jacqueline Woodson is a story about a girl who discovers who she is. The main character in this book is Angelina, a girl who is new to the school. The kids in school look at her differently because of where she came from, the language she speaks, her skin, the food she has for lunch, and many other things. Angelina has a chance to talk to her class and that's when she feels she has discovered who she is. This book shows diversity and helps people understand what a child may be thinking and how different they feel when they are new to a country; kids may feel out of place or left out and this is what you will see when you read this book. This book is about finding your place in a different country that you now get to call home. I also love the illustrations in this book because they show the emotions of the characters and you can see what each character is feeling. Reviewed by Maria

Filled with Ellie's sketches, plans, and designs, kids will love reading about Ellie's adventures and find themselves inspired to design and build their own inventions. The end of the book includes a guide to Ellie’s favorite tools, where kids can read and learn about the real-world applications of tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and more. Ellie, Engineer is a book that will inspire young readers to learn more about engineering, architecture, and other related topics.
