FRIENDS 20TH ANNUAL GUEST AUTHOR VISIT: HILLARY JORDAN

Sunday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m. Hillary Jordan is the author of the novels Mudbound (2008) and When She Woke (2011), as well as the digital short, Aftermirth. Her first novel, Mudbound, won numerous awards including the Alex Award from the American Library Association, and was made into a major feature film in 2017. Hillary Jordan teaches writing workshops and gives talks at colleges, literary festivals and community libraries. She has a BA from Wellesley College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. Hillary Jordan grew up in Dallas, TX and Muskogee, OK and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. Saturday, April 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Authors writing in a variety of genres will once again share their experiences and books at the library’s second Local Author Event. The event, a tribute to all of the incredible authors that live right here in Hershey and surrounding areas, offers an opportunity to get some great exposure, network with other writers, and to discuss their experiences, while selling books along the way. Authors who wish to present their work must submit a registration form by Friday, April 13. Forms are available at the library's Circulation desk. FRIENDS CHILDREN'S SERIES PROGRAM: PATRICIA POLACCO

Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. Children's author and illustrator, Patricia Polacco is a guest author, this month. D rawing upon her rich heritage of mixed cultures for her inspirations, she shares her message of tolerance, acceptance, diversity, love, and respect to children of all ages while entertaining them with her lively personal stories. Patricia Polacco has been enlightening children and adults alike for 30 years while visiting elementary schools and libraries all over the United State and Canada. No registration is required for this program that is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Hershey Public Library.
