Greetings From Anthony Orsini, Library DirectorWelcome to the first edition of the Belmont County District Library Newsletter. Your library account entitles you to receive a copy of our newsletter that contains information about upcoming events, new books and other materials, and services available at your Library.
You may have noticed changes happening in your libraries. With your support, we have been adding many new materials and services. Collections are being reviewed and updated, new programs have begun and the summer library program is well underway.
The addition of this newsletter as a means of communication is one of the many innovations I look forward to implementing as your new Library Director. The Board of Trustees hired me in late 2015 to replace Ms. Myers upon her retirement. Over the last 18 years, I have served in many roles in public libraries. My family and I are very pleased to return to the Ohio Valley and be a part of your community.

 The patron database that contains borrower information has upwards of 930,000 names. When library staff have to manually search for a patron account, without a library card, mistakes can and have been made. As of July 1, 2016 a library card must be presented to check out library materials or to use a library computer. If someone is picking up your holds they must have your library card. We will no longer accept a photo ID in place of a library card. Thank you for your cooperation.
