ecoEXPLORE Discovery Packs for Checkout at Central Library

Visit Central Library to check out an ecoEXPLORE Discovery Pack, thanks to a partnership with the N.C. Arboretum. EcoEXPLORE is a citizen science program that the N.C. Arboretum started to provide public library patrons access to outdoor equipment and materials to explore nature. This program is geared to children ages 5-13. Children can photograph wildlife and submit their findings on the ecoEXPLORE website to earn prizes and badges.

There is also a States Edition, where you are able to explore all 50 states virtually.
 
Libby by Overdrive and the North Carolina Digital Library
Using the North Carolina Digital Library and Libby by Overdrive, you can find and check out e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines and videos using your library card from any device.
You can also access e-materials just for kids by using the NC Kids Digital Library.
 
Mango Languages
Learn one of over 70 languages at your own pace on any device with Mango Languages. Lessons also include interesting cultural notes about the countries that speak the language you are learning.
 
NCPedia
 NCpedia highlights North Carolina's unique resources, people, and culture to enrich, educate and inform. The encyclopedia is coordinated and managed by the North Carolina Government & Heritage Library at the State Library of North Carolina, a part of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.  
 
SIRS Discover (ProQuest)
 Find photos and information from newspapers, magazines, books, web resources, and more. You will be able to do your research all on this website and not worry about being taken to third-party sites when you click on articles. Citations are made with a simple click.
 
TumbleBook Library
 TumbleBooks has many ebook titles for children, along with educational videos and puzzles. This is an especially awesome resource if you are looking for read-along picture books,
easy reader books, and children's chapter books.

If you need homework help, practice lessons or assistance from a tutor, Tutor.com can help. Access different practice lessons, tests, and live homework help on various subjects for all grade levels.

Battle of the Books is a quiz bowl style competition sponsored by The North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA).
Students across the state read books from a list selected by NCSLMA.
Schools form teams to answer questions about the books.
