Good News! The New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act grant application was released on January 6, 2020! The Library Board is working hard to prepare the documents to apply on March 9, the first day applications are being accepted. Notifications of awards can be as early as June. We are excited to be finally applying! Plans are to break ground on the new library this fall!
For Black History Month the library is offering two exceptional programs. Alice’s Ordinary People is about Alice Tregay, an unsung heroine of the Civil Rights Movement. Her remarkable story spans the historic period from the marches of Dr. King to the election of Barack Obama. Her great contribution in the field of politics is the thread which connects the two. Join us Thursday, February 6, at 6:30 p.m. for this 56 minute documentary.
On Saturday, February 29 at 1:00 p.m. join Frank Marlowe as he explores Voting Rights for African Americans From the Civil War to the Present. Learn the history of voting rights for African Americans and to what extent their rights are guaranteed and protected today. The Gambino Room is always packed for Frank’s program so arrive early to guarantee you get a seat.
We are happy to have Alicia Vincelette back to help participants Craft a Special Valentine Card on February 13 at 1:30 p.m. Be sure to register as the class is limited and Alicia needs to have enough supplies. I hope I’ll see you there!
