The library may seem quiet at our current location with only curbside service, but a lot is happening inside and out. First, we have literally broken ground on the new library as shown by the photo above. And I know, from all the emails that come through my inbox, materials are being approved and ordered every day. We have installed a time lapse camera at the site so when things really start happening look for pictures on the library website.
In June, Jay Oliver resigned as the library’s Technology Librarian. I know Jay enjoyed working with Cranbury Library members and assisting them with technical issues. Many of you told me how helpful he was. His assistance and that of our other staff members is an integral part of our library services. That is why I’m happy to announce our new Community Outreach and Technology Librarian, Dean Klimek.
Dean comes to Cranbury from the Piscataway Public Library where he worked at the reference desk and as the Teen Services Librarian. He has a Master of Information degree from Rutgers University with concentrations in both Data Science and Technology Information Management. He has experience assisting library users with technology issues, leading classes, answering members’ questions, recommending books and developing websites. As an added bonus he is an Ultimate Frisbee player. It will be fun to see how we can put that skill to use at the new library.
Dean has already been assisting library members via phone.
He can help with questions about our new online catalog and the digital content we now offer - Hoopla, eLibraryNJ and Digital Magazines. He is helping to manage and update our events calendar and library website. Look for new programming and technology classes, at first online and eventually inside our pocket library. When we can finally open our door to the public, I hope you will stop in to welcome Dean to Cranbury.
