The book tells the story of Elizabeth Zott, a talented research chemist unconcerned with social norms in 1960s California. Her career turns unexpectedly when she becomes the star of a popular TV cooking show. Join us in May for programs exploring the book's themes.

They are more energy efficient, faster, and safer than traditional coil burners and even Halogen cooktops. Women in STEM-Professor Tracy Rosebrock Professor of Biology and Health Science at Stonehill College Wednesday, March 29, 7:00 p.m. Community Room Join us for a conversation with Professor Tracy Rosebrock about her research, her passion for cooking, and this year's town-wide read, Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. Dr. Rosebrock has over 20 years of experience as a researcher, biologist, and public health practitioner. She is also a seasoned educator and mentor with years of teaching experience in biology and health science. Dr. Rosebrock specializes in infectious disease biology and public health. Dr. Rosebrock earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions from Cornell University’s Boyce Thompson Institute, her M.A. in Molecular Biology from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, and her B.A. in Biology from the New College of Florida.

Democracy Talks: Access to Books in the Context of Mass Incarceration Tuesday, May 21, 7:00 p.m. Kelly Brotzman, Executive Director of the Prison Book Program in Quincy, MA, will discuss mass incarceration in the US, the role of education in reducing recidivism, the critical role books play for people in prison, and Prison Book Program's role in getting reading material to folks behind bars. Kelly Brotzman is the Executive Director of Prison Book Program in Quincy, a 50-year old nonprofit devoted to sending free, high-quality books and reading materials to people in prisons and jails across the country. Presented in partnership with Watertown Public Library.
