Simply Stitches: The Threads That Bind Us — Through January 10. The Glenview Library has a talented group of needlework artists among its staff. Quilting and stitching have evolved into an expressive art form, connecting the heart and soul of those who create the works with those who use them. Cherished pieces are often passed down from generation to generation. In the spirit of the holiday season, these creative staff artisans are honored to share their work with their community through this quilt and needlework exhibition. Urbanscape: The City As I See It — January 11–March 15. Gallery Talk: Sunday, February 12, 1:15 PM, Library Lobby. Artist: Kathleen Eaton, eatonart.com. Kathleen Eaton is a Chicago area artist whose work is an interpretation of city and suburban life. Her art reflects a fascination with architectural spaces and the unexpected solitude or human activities that occur in them. The paintings begin with an idea of a place, real or imaginary, and then proceed, by a series of sketches, to full-sized drawings, from which the final oil paintings emerge. Eaton’s work was selected to coordinate with the My Kind of Town Adult Enrichment winter program series.
