Storms, or just up for a good literary adventure, see and hear author Tim Dorsey in person as he discusses his latest novel, The Pope of Palm Beach, at the Beaches Branch Library. Everyone is welcome. Books available for purchase to get signed.

Don't miss your chance to meet author Kristina McMorris as she discusses her latest novel, Sold on a Monday, inspired by an actual newspaper photo that stunned the country. McMorris has garnered more than 20 national literary awards for her novels. Books will be available for purchase and signing at Pablo Creek Regional Library.

Learn to code, and change the world... Thanks to Girls Who Code, a national organization that offers clubs to girls interested in computer programming, girls in fifth – 12th grade can take part in a free 15-week session to learn how to code at the library. Drop-ins welcome. You do not have to attend every workshop to participate.

Beachy-keen book bargains await... The Friends of the Beaches Branch Library are hosting a four-day book sale. Stock up and save on a variety of books, including fiction and nonfiction for all ages. Become a member of the FOBBL at the door and shop on Member Preview Night, Sept. 19, 4 – 7 p.m.

Help kids build their home libraries... It's National Literacy Month. Jacksonville Public Library and United Way of Northeast Florida are asking for donations of new or nearly new storybooks for children ages 3 – 4. Bring books to any library location, and sign a special bookplate. Books that include a personalized bookplate with your name will be given to a ReadingPals child. Books may also be purchased through the ReadingPals Amazon.com Wish List. Donate a new or like-new book when you join the party at our International Literacy Day Celebration Sept. 8 at a branch near you.
