Read. Learn. Earn. Cool Prizes! With activities ranging from Aquanaut or Astronaut? to 2019: A Space Odyssey, Summer Reading and Learning is out of this world! All ages can participate and read to earn free books and cool stuff throughout June and July. Visit any library to pick up an activity booklet and a bookmark to track your reading. Kickoff parties start the first week of June so blast off to A Universe of Stories and a world of fun!

Free lunch for summer. Beginning June 3 through August 2, kids up to age 18 can enjoy a free lunch Monday through Friday at 12 library locations. Bring the crew for Summer Reading and fun, and they can receive a nutritious meal that includes protein, fruit or veggie and a drink. Download a list of library locations and times for free lunches.

Exhibition opens at Art Walk, June 5. Opening June 5, 5 – 8:30 p.m., in The Gallery at Main, 303 Laura St. N., Reclaimed highlights the abundance of single-use products that contribute to pollution and teeming landfills. Artists imagine and assemble discarded materials into original works of art, giving objects a second life. The evening features Trash Panda Flea Market and performances by Big Tiki & the Mai Tais.

Find some of the very best in GLBT literature for children, teens and adults as well as award-winning movies (think Bohemian Rhapsody) at your library.

Get the inside scoop. Author K.E. Mullins, who writes contemporary fiction/drama/mystery with strong female heroines, will speak about her novels, the inspiration for her stories and characters, her writing process, and how to get published. She will specifically talk about Murder: Another Name for Revenge, part of her ICE—In Case of Emergency—series, and her upcoming release, 2475 Samona Drive.

Hands-on musical experience. Bring the kids to hear the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras and to try out musical instruments such as violins, violas and cellos at the Instrument Zoo. It’s a great way to introduce children to symphonic music and get them interested in playing an instrument!

You're in for a treat! Music @ Main presents a classical concert featuring University of Florida Assistant Professors Lauren Hodges and Jasmin Arakawa. Hodges served as Valdosta Symphony principal viola and director of the Georgia String Project, and has performed across the U.S. and in Italy, Austria and France. Arakawa has performed widely in North America, Central and South America, Europe, China and Japan. She is a recipient of the 2016 Steinway Top Teacher Award and is the director of the UF International Piano Festival.
