The Lady in the VanWhen a man discovers that a transient woman is living in a van in his driveway, he forms an unexpected bond with her. Virginia: Discovery Works
"Miss Shepard is a bizarre lady who manages to get help from others by rejecting all offers of help. She never acknowledges the kindness she receives, yet neighbors and especially, Mr. Bennett, continue to help her exist in unfathomable conditions. Some scenes and dialogues are very disturbing. Be prepared to examine your own emotions around homelessness and the aging as you watch this movie based on a true story." |

Love, Simon A closeted gay high school student struggles with coming out to his family and friends Laura, Adult Services "I loved this charming, funny movie as much as I enjoyed the book it is based on. Although the story focuses on a gay teen, most people will relate to the emotions and awkward situations he experiences that come with first love."

WentworthWhen a woman is sent to prison for attempted murder, she tries to stay out of trouble but gets caught up in the rivalries behind bars. Jess: Adult Services "This series pulls no punches when it depicts the prison life at Wentworth Prison. Though the story line is a little gritty, it held my attention throughout. I would not recommend this to anyone under 18."

Hemingway & GellhornFollows the love affair and marriage of Martha Gellhorn and Ernest Hemingway, from their first meeting in 1936 to their divorce in 1945.
Nadge: Adult Services
"The journalistic bond between Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gellhorn culminated in their marriage during the Spanish War. Footage from both the 1936 Spanish War and World War II enhances the movie as characters are juxtaposed in the black- and- white war scenes." |

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Scott Pilgrim learns that if he wants to date the girl of his dreams, he must fight all seven of her previous lovers. Maxx: Technical Services "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is based on the comic book of the same name. It is really cheeky, and the movie’s focus is on its epic fighting sequences."

Lean On Pete With his life full of uncertainty, fifteen-year-old Charley finds comfort working with horses at the local racetrack, becoming attached to a losing racehorse named Lean On Pete. Jane: Circulation Department
"Don't let the cover art of a young man and his horse fool you-- Lean on Pete is not a kids' movie. This film is about 15- year- old Charley going through some hard times, but never giving up hope. It is dark and often depressing, but also uplifting. Some of the storyline seemed very improbable to me, yet I became emotionally invested in Charley and in what would happen to him. The young lead actor is Charlie Plummer, whose performance is worth watching in this movie about the universal yearning for home." |

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to PowerThis film discusses the progress the world has made in addressing climate change and the use of renewable energy. Virginia: Discovery Works
"This follow-up documentary addresses the progress made to tackle the problem of climate change and Al Gore's global efforts to persuade governmental leaders to invest in renewable energy. I especially enjoyed the footage about the deal-making leading to the signing of 2016's Paris Climate Agreement." |
