with Michelle Tucker Chubenko Tuesday, September 26 Over the decades genealogists have communicated
with fellow researchers using whatever tools were available, from newsletter queries to online message boards. Enter the 21st century and 'social media'! Learn tips and techniques to use the newest genealogical tool -- Facebook -- from document translations to research questions to connecting to family. Michelle will show you how to effectively use Facebook for your genealogical research without getting lost in your newsfeed or overrun by notifications. You will discover Groups and Pages for your areas of interest, whether it's a specific ethnicity or a geographic area, and learn the ways to mindfully manage your level of interaction. No experience in family history research or in using Facebook is required for this meeting. You are welcome whether you are already an avid Facebook user or maybe still wonder if it's for you at all! Plan to join us and learn more about it.

News from Fold3 [Remember: Fold3 is available at the Bernards Township Library for any user, and from home for BTL cardholders] - A significant collection of US Veterans Administration Pension Payment Cards were recently added to Fold3. If you have an ancestor who received a U.S. Army or Navy pension between 1907 and 1933 you may find a treasure here.
- There's a lot of interest around Ken Burns and Lynn Novick's 10-part documentary, The Vietnam War, which premiers September 17. Brush up on your knowledge of that conflict with Fold3's Vietnam Collection which includes photos, service awards, Medal of Honor recipients, The Pentagon Papers (yes, the actual 7,000-page report) and an amazing interactive version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. Well worth a look whether you have a family connection or not.
