Reminder: FHIG Meets Tuesday, 8/25/15 7:00pm (Coffee at 6:30pm)
"Making the Most of FamilySearch.org"
Tuesday, August 25
Steve Strauss, a member of the Genealogical Society of the West Fields, will be this month's presenter for FHIG, providing a visual introduction and walk through of the exciting website www.FamilySearch.org.
FamilySearch is a nonprofit organization sponsored by
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church). Their website provides ready access to the world's
largest collection of family history and genealogy records.
Many of the resources formerly only available at the Family
History Library in Salt Lake City or on microfilm sent to a Mormon Family History Center, can now be reached via FamilySearch.org
on any Internet capable computer.
The best part of it all? It is almost all free.
Steve's presentation will be geared towards the novice computer user as well as an experienced genealogist. He hopes and expects that everyone will gain some knowledge that will help in researching and possibly organizing your family history.
Plan to join us at the Tuesday, August 25th FHIG meeting
and learn something new about this deeply important,
multifaceted and FREE genealogy resource!
