.... bring along cookies or other goodies to share and those who assist in setting up and clearing away at our meetings. Your contribution at that time is particularly helpful as it allows me to wrap things up with the presenter and/or other participants and not face the cleanup alone afterwards, and IS noticed and valued, even when I don't say Thank You in person or in public. We relax and enjoy learning with new and old friends with something to nibble on and our coffee or tea.

Tuesday, April 28 Most of us do not have to look too far into our family tree to find those who traveled from their homeland across the seas to the United States. Join professional family researcher Bea Denman Howley and learn how to search for documentary records that may uncover personal stories that illuminate our ancestor’s venture to our shores. Emigration refers to leaving a country to settle elsewhere; immigration means entering a new country and putting down roots; Naturalization is the process by which rights and privileges of citizenship are granted to an alien or person of foreign birth. The documents and records associated with these processes may include a ship’s manifest, published passenger lists, as well as online research at the LDS Library, National Archives, and several State Archives, to name a few. Bea will share tips, resources and examples to help you on your way, with knowledge she has accumulated over 30 years of research, including her own story.

Bea is a Graduate of the National Institute of Genealogical Research, Washington, DC and the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, Birmingham, AL as well as the National Genealogical Society's "American Genealogy" course. An experienced lecturer, presenter, writer, facilitator and trainer and accomplished house historian, she has served as President, Vice President, and Education Chair and Speakers Bureau participant for the Monmouth County Genealogy Society. She has much to share with us. Please help me welcome her . . .
